What is Mouse Tweaks?

A small mod focused on everyday inventory actions.

Mouse Tweaks changes how clicks, drags and the scroll wheel behave inside supported Minecraft inventory interfaces. Instead of repeatedly clicking individual slots, players can distribute, collect or transfer stacks using more fluid mouse gestures.

It is intended for Minecraft: Java Edition and works on the client. The correct mod file must match your Minecraft version and loader.

Features

Inventory control that feels more direct.

The feature set is compact, but each tweak targets repetitive inventory movement and reduces the number of individual clicks needed during crafting, storage and sorting.

↘

Right-click drag, improved

RMB Tweak extends normal item placement so revisiting a slot while dragging can place additional items there instead of ignoring it.

↔

LMB with item

Drag across matching stacks to pick up or move the same item type more efficiently.

⇧

LMB without item

Use modifier-based dragging to quickly shift-click multiple stacks between inventories.

↕

Mouse-wheel transfer

Scroll over a stack to push or pull items between inventories. Direction and search order can be configured to match your preferred workflow.

How it works

Four steps from install to faster sorting.

Mouse Tweaks hooks into compatible inventory screens and translates familiar mouse gestures into repeated item-management actions.

1

Match your setup

Confirm the exact Minecraft version and loader before choosing a mod build.

2

Install the JAR

Place the matching mod file in the .minecraft/mods folder.

3

Use mouse gestures

Drag with LMB/RMB or scroll over stacks inside compatible inventory screens.

4

Adjust behavior

Fine-tune wheel direction and other available settings for your workflow.

Use cases

Useful when inventories get busy.

These patterns are especially practical for players who craft, sort storage or move large numbers of stacks often.

Crafting

Fill grids quickly

RMB dragging helps distribute ingredients across multiple crafting slots with fewer repeated clicks.

Storage

Move stacks in batches

Shift-drag behavior can reduce repetitive work when transferring many stacks into chests or other inventories.

Sorting

Use the wheel naturally

Scroll-based movement helps push or pull items without repeatedly grabbing and placing the same stack.

Compatibility

Designed for Minecraft: Java Edition.

Mouse Tweaks is distributed for Java Edition and current project listings include Forge, Fabric and NeoForge variants. Bedrock Edition and MCPE use a different add-on architecture and cannot run the Java mod directly.

For heavily customized modded inventory screens, compatibility depends on how closely the interface follows Minecraft’s standard container-screen behavior.

Installation / setup

Install the correct build, not just any file.

A loader or version mismatch is the most common reason a Minecraft mod fails to start.

Choose loader + game version

Match Forge, Fabric or NeoForge with the exact Minecraft release you are launching.

Place the mod JAR

Copy the matching Mouse Tweaks JAR into the .minecraft/mods folder.

Launch and verify

Start the loader profile, open an inventory and test drag and wheel behavior.

⚠ Safety notice

Use files from trusted project distribution sources and verify that the filename, Minecraft version and loader all match your setup. A source-code archive is not interchangeable with a compiled mod JAR. Back up important worlds before changing a large mod setup.

Pros and cons

Simple utility, specific purpose.

Mouse Tweaks is most valuable when you want faster inventory interactions without adding a large gameplay system.

Pros

  • Reduces repetitive inventory clicking.
  • Client-side design keeps setup focused.
  • Supports multiple major Java mod loaders.
  • Configurable wheel behavior.

Cons

  • Requires a matching build for your exact game and loader.
  • Not a native Bedrock / MCPE add-on.
  • Some heavily modified inventory screens may behave differently.
  • Users can confuse source ZIPs with playable JAR releases.
Release information

Version labels that users commonly search.

These notes help map popular search phrases to the correct compatibility decision rather than implying one universal file works everywhere.

1.21.11Project listings include 1.21.11 builds. Match the loader too.
1.21.xPatch releases can require distinct files; choose the exact listed Minecraft version.
26.1.2Current listings include loader-specific 26.1.2 releases.
Troubleshooting

Check compatibility before changing settings.

If the mod is missing or behaves unexpectedly, start with the loader, game version and conflicting GUI mods.

Mod does not appear

Verify the JAR is inside the correct mods folder and Minecraft launched with the same loader profile.

Wheel feels reversed

Review the wheel-direction setting and select the push/pull orientation that matches your preference.

One GUI ignores tweaks

Test the same action in a vanilla-style inventory. A custom interface may alter the container behavior Mouse Tweaks expects.
